Since the establishment of Paracentrum Texel in 1969, many military personnel have been trained. Paracentrum Texel has become so well-known in the military world that we now train not only Dutch but also various foreign military personnel. For example, every spring and autumn, a group of English soldiers traditionally returns for their jumping week. But military personnel from the United States, Kuwait, Hong Kong, and many other countries also find their way to Texel!
Static line square
During this training, you jump with a ‘square’ (or mattress parachute). Today, special defense units use this square, which has little in common with the round canopy.
Due to the special flying characteristics of this parachute, it can be steered precisely, and the landing is super soft. This canopy is used for jumps from a height of 3500 ft (about 1100 meters). It’s our cheapest training to make the 5 jumps required for the military wing.
