About the declaration
The “Own declaration regarding health and fitness for practicing sport parachuting” is a document in which students and novice parachutists themselves indicate the state of their health. The document is valid for up to two years after signing.
Before we can take you up in the air as a student, trainee, or jumper who does not yet have their B license, we need a completed and signed copy.
Important:
Take the physical/printed (and therefore not a digital) document with you to the Paracentrum.
Who is the declaration for?
Completing and submitting the ‘own medical declaration’ is only necessary for students and for sports jumpers who do not yet have a B-license.
For example, by:
- Students of a Static Line training
- Students of a Military Static Line training
- Students of an AFF training
- Students of a Total Jump training
- All other students
- Licensed (solo) jumpers who do not yet have a B-license
If you are coming to make a Tandem parachute jump, you do not need this declaration.
How it works:
Filling out and submitting this declaration is very easy:
- Download the “Own declaration regarding health and fitness for practicing sport parachuting“
- Print the document
- Read all the questions and answer them truthfully
- Bring the completed and signed physical document to the Paracentrum
If you have been able to answer all questions with “no”, the completed and signed document is sufficient.
Answered a Question with YES
Did you have to answer one or more questions with ‘Yes’?
Then your own declaration is not sufficient and you will have to be further examined by a (medical) doctor.
The (medical) doctor must complete the document “KNVvL medical declaration sport parachuting“.
EXAMINING DOCTOR
The company Keurdokter (link) offers medical examinations for parachutists for whom one of the questions has been answered with ‘yes’.
PLEASE NOTE
It is important that your answers are filled in truthfully. In the event of an incident or accident, you may experience (major) problems if it turns out that you have not been honest when completing this declaration.
Old declarations
As of February 1, 2024, the requirements regarding the medical declaration for parachuting have been changed by the KNVvL. Until then, all declarations were issued by a doctor. In the new situation, a doctor is only needed if one of the questions on the form is answered with “Yes.”
Medical declarations that were completed and signed before 01-02-2024 retain their validity and are therefore valid for up to 2 years after signing.
Details
For those who want to know more about the new rules; here is the formal notification from the parachuting department of the KNVvL (VB 2024-01 February 16, 2024).
Concerns:
BVR 2024 v2 article 403, paragraph 1. Sports parachutists without a B-license must have a valid “own declaration of health and fitness” or a valid “KNVvL Medical Declaration Sport Parachuting” for each jump.
The latest valid version always applies to both declarations.
Problem:
There are still many sports parachutists without a B-license in possession of a medical certificate, model 2014. They were still able to jump with this declaration until the BVR 2024 came into effect.
The validity of this declaration has been determined by a doctor and the board cannot withdraw it. In order to facilitate the transition for this group of jumpers and for the paracenters, the board has decided to introduce a transitional arrangement.
Solution:
Addition to article 403 paragraph 1: Sports parachutists without a B-license also comply with this article if they are in possession of an old medical declaration (model 2014), until the expiry date of its validity.
